St. Joseph's College is one of the oldest institutions of India founded in the year 1844 by priests of Society of Jesus (Jesuits)in Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu State of South India. It was shifted to Tiruchirapalli District in the year 1883. The University of Madras conferred Autonomous status to the college in the year 1978. St Joseph's College has produced a number of rare and remarkable geniuses in the fields of science, engineering and literature.
