Open University Malaysia or OUM is the 7th Malaysian private university owned by the Multimedia Technology Enhancement Operations (METEOR) Sdn. Bhd. It leverages on the quality, prestige and capabilities of its owners - a consortium of 11 Malaysian public universities. [1]
Currently, the main campus is located at Jalan Tun Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. In addition to this, there are 61 learning centres throughout Malaysia, out of which 10 are regional learning centres. [1]
Since its establishment in 2000, the number of learners enrolled at the university has grown from 400 to almost 60,000. Almost 90% of the students are working adults, a majority of which are school teachers and military personnel. [1]
