• History & Memorable Moments

Burnett opened in 1968 with grades 8–10 and was classified a junior secondary school. The first year the school was open (1968–1969) the building's second floor was not complete. This led to a year of shifts with the grade 9 and 10 students attending in the morning and the grade 8 classes in the afternoon. In September 1969, the entire student body attending with normal hours. Mr. Billy Bishop was the first principal of the school.
