Westerville North High School is a one-story public high school in Westerville, Ohio in Delaware County, Ohio. It is one of three high schools in the Westerville City School District. The high school has been open since 1975. It is located at 950 County Line Road, in Delaware County, sitting on the North side of County Line Road, just across from Franklin County. North's colors are cardinal and gold and their mascot is a representation of the classic Roman "warrior". The high school has a long rivalry with Westerville South High School (Ohio)- formerly Westerville High School. Notable alumni include two-time track Olympian Bob Kennedy and current Carolina Panthers Offensive Coordinator Jeff Davidson. The largest graduating class of Westerville North was in 2005. [1]
Outside of the school is the Senior Rock where only seniors are allowed to spray paint messages. Inside the school, a row of lockers called Locker Street center the school. Students eat in an area called "The Commons". The school's current principal is Kurt Yancey. Students are expected to follow a moral code known as "The Warrior Way". North has received a fair amount of national press, mostly for bizarre events taking place at the school. An incident involving marijuana laced rice krispie treats sold at a bake sale was mentioned on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Many news networks featured a story involving Taylor Killian, a student who oiled himself down and went streaking throughout the school, and was subsequently tazed. The school was also mentioned in a March, 2008 episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, after Democratic Presidential Candidates appeared at rallies on the same day at North and Westerville Central.
