The school opened in 1938 as Vickery Meadows High School, but was renamed in the early 1950s when the campus was expanded and nearby communities were annexed to the school district.Hillcrest High School, formerly Vickery Meadows High School is a public secondary school located in north Dallas, Texas (USA). Hillcrest High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Dallas Independent School District.[1]

Continuing through the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, Benjamin Franklin Middle School feeds into Hillcrest. The school will also enrolls students from the Emmett Conrad High School attendance boundary for their senior years, but only those in the areas zoned to L. L. Hotchkiss, Jack Lowe Sr., Lee A. McShan Jr. and Jill Stone Elementary Schools.[1]
