Jefferson High School officially began operations on June 2, 1922 on the Jefferson Elementary School property located on the corner of Hill and Market Streets in Daly City, CA. Originally, the school had a principal, three teachers, and fifty students. One year later, Jefferson High School moved to the Colma Community Center on Dunks St. (now U.S. 280 Freeway). In 1925, Jefferson High moved to its current location on Mission St. where a new high school building was erected. The gymnasium was added in 1937.[1]

Jefferson has a very diverse student population with many immigrant students from around the world. Over the years, thousands of people have graduated from Jefferson High School and some families can claim to have two and three generations of Jefferson graduates. [1]
