Schaumburg High School opened in 1970. It is accredited by the North Central Association and has earned full recognition status by the State Superintendent of Schools in the State of Illinois. [1]

On April 19, 2007 there was a bomb threat at Schaumburg High School in which the school was forced to be evacuated into the football stadium and was forced to be shut down and released early while the police came in and searched the school for dangerous devices. No harmful substances were found, but a 16 year old student was taken into custody and charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. [1]
