Established in 1929 The University College of Engineering has the distinction of being the oldest and the biggest in Andhra Pradesh.Established in the year 1929, eleven years after the formation of Osmania University, it was the 245th Engineering College to be established in the whole of British India. The college moved to its present permanent building in the year 1947. Today it is the biggest among the campus colleges of Osmania University. There are 103 teaching staff members, including professors. The college is home to the cream of talent in both the Under Graduate and Post-Graduate B.E. and M.E. courses offered. [1]

The College celebrated Golden Jubilee year in 1979, Diamond Jubilee year in 1989 and Platinum Jubilee in the year 2005 . The college has conferred autonomous status in the academic year 1994-95. [1]

The institution has been adjudged by ISTE as the Best Engineering College in the Country for its overall performance in the year 2003, the Principal of the College has bagged the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Best Principal award at the National Level. [1]

The college has been selected as one of the few lead-institutions in the country, under Technical Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) of the Government of India, being funded by World Bank for revamping Technical Education System in the country and for introducing demand-driven courses and cutting-edge technologies. [1]

The College has well equipped laboratories and workshops. Most of the graduates of the Institution are placed in executive positions in National and International Institutions and Corporations of repute through on-campus recruitment. [1]
