Wando High School is a high school in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Home of the Wando Warriors, the school was re-built in 2004 to accommodate the town's rapid growth during the 1990s. It is the largest high school in the state of South Carolina. Located now on 1000 Warrior Way off Highway 17. Wando offers over 250 classes, including Advanced placement, Dual Credit, Honors, College Preparatory, and Applied Technology courses. The addition of a "Freshman Academy" improves the smooth transition of the change from middle school, to high school. After freshman year, the students are asked to pick one of four schools of study to major in. On September 28, 2009, Ms. Lucy G. Beckham was named the 2010 MetLife/National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) National Secondary Principal of the Year. This is classified as the highest honor for a secondary school principal in the nation [1]
