• Overview

The campus of INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING AND RURAL TECHNOLOGY, Allahabad, UP, India spreads over 26.5 acres (107,000 m2) of land and is absolutely pollution free. It has elegant buildings, beautiful landscaped spacious lawns and well laid roads. The Institution has fully furnished hostel and mess facilities for boys and girls separately. The Institution has its own D.G. sets and thus, the electricity is available on the campus round the clock. There is a separate security wing to ensure safety and security of the students day and night. Fresh water is supplied for drinking through its three tube-wells and overhead tanks. The campus has well maintained playgrounds for indoor and outdoor games. Cafeteria is available where eatables are served for the students on subsidized rate. In order to provide a highly technical environment, to cultivate basic technical skills and give excellent training to the students and to produce promising engineers, computer professionals and technocrats in different disciplines, a good deal of infrastructure, in terms of well equipped laboratories, computer labs with latest version systems and a rich library with sufficient books & journals have been made available.

IERT owns credit for developing several revolutionary designs for pumps and windmills, and many of them are in production today, across the world. Till a few years ago, several rural technology research projects were run by the Institute in various villages of India, and attracted popular faculty and research scholars to the campus. The Institute had a full fledged production house inside the campus, where lab jobs of diploma students were sold at premium market prices - reflecting the high level of craftsmanship which was character of the IERT spirit.

The Institute was the first polytechnic in India to be granted autonomy. IERT is now wholly in charge of its syllabus, admission procedure as well as diplomas offered. The Institute offers B.Tech courses in three disciplines - Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Industrial Production Engineering. The Institute also offers Post Graduate Diploma Courses in Management.
