Parkview High School is a public high school located in Springfield, Missouri. Parkview was the second high school built in Springfield after Central High School. Parkview graduated its first class in 1956. The next year a new wing was constructed due to the large number students enrolling. In 1992 an auditorium was added to Parkview for its music and drama productions. In 2001 a new music room and renovations to other classrooms where finished. The most recent changes to Parkview have been the demolition of an old wing and the adding a new wing to replace it completed at the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year. Phase 2 of the addition is due to begin at the start of the 2007-2008 school year. This new addition will include a new library media center, cafeteria and kitchen, and many classrooms. The current library and cafeteria will be converted to classrooms as well. The schools news show is called Vike Vision. The school's mascot is a Viking. Parkview has an ID policy that requires students to wear an ID badge; if their badge is lost or vandalized, they are required to get a new one for US$5.
