The Government Engineering College Barton Hill, Trivandrum (short names: GEC, GECB) (Entrance Commissioner's Code: TRV) was started by the Government Of Kerala in August 1999. [1]
The Institution is located in Barton Hill, which is two kilometres from the city centre in Trivandrum. It was started in order to have a centre of excellence to focus on the latest in Technology, and to augment the demand for Engineering education in Kerala. The institute has three major departments viz. Electronics and Communication, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. Plans to include a new branch, Electrical and Electronics Engineering are underway. The college, now in the eighth academic year, since its inception, has already established itself as one of the leading Engineering Colleges in Kerala. [1]
